How Linings Can Help To Keep Your Home Warm This Winter

3 Jul 2020 By CurtainStudio

Most people tend to consider style and costs when choosing curtains for their home, but did you know that the choice of curtain can also make a big difference to how warm your home will be over the winter months?

If you’re happy with your current curtains but want to keep your home warmer this winter, a great alternative to purchasing new curtains is to add an attachable lining. An attachable lining simply hooks onto the tape of any Pencil Pleat Curtain, then hangs back up onto your track. Whether this be a thermal lining to help block out some of the light and add insulation or a triple-weave lining which helps to darken your room while adding insulation and softness. Attachable lining and double track options are great for when you want to have some privacy and insulation but also want to keep that sheer curtain look.

If you are finding your curtains are letting in too much light, an attachable lining can be a great cost-effective way to add privacy and sun filtering. Adding an attachable lining can help to protect your curtains from sun fade and stop your furniture from being damaged by the sun.

What is in our range and what are the benefits?

Blockout Lining Curtains – Our superior suede-soft thermal lining helps to block out the light and adds extra insulation.
Triple-Weave Lining Curtain - Are ideal as an affordable curtain on its own, but can also be used on a double track behind a sheer curtain for additional warmth and privacy.
Attachable Blockout Lining – Similar to our block out lining curtains, however attachable linings simply hook onto the tape of any pencil pleat curtain.

Attachable Triple-Weave Lining - Features three layers of yarn cleverly interwoven with a back yarn in the centre for darkening your room. Triple weave blackout fabric regulates room temperature by insulating against the summer heat and keeping out the winter chill.

Our Attachable Linings are available in sizes to complement our Pencil Pleat Readymade Curtains.

Double track

If you have decided that a double track sound like a great option for you, we have a “How to double track with readymades” instructional dedicated to just this.

Top tip: If you’re getting new curtains, choose a curtain which is floor-length as they help to keep the heat in better than ones that sit at the sill.
